It was not a ruffle between Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Tulla Devender Goud, but a strategic move by the latter to fix the other leaders and party chief go against him! While KCR’s defeat made him to sense the advantageous position, Talasani’s tantrum and the otiose Core Committee brought in sympathy. If the committee were positive on Telangana, he would have taken the lead and TDP would have retained power and powerful leader as well.
In that case, defining more rules, Chandrababu Naidu could always strengthen the high command and have control on divided regions. What is TDP after Chandrababu Naidu? He doesn’t have an answer readily. Finding a right fit for number two, three, etc, positions that are considered by the activists and people, is not so easy. It demands undeterred support from people and experience to face the strong leaders from other parties.
Party president Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that party is vital but not the benefits of few leaders. He is right. Tomorrow some other leader from a different region would come with the same separatism slogan. But a party chief’s experience lies in retaining a strong leader without leaving him to the people he is representing, (especially when political vacuum in a region attracts key personnel of his team) at the cost of party’s benefits. That acumen helps a party to retain substitutes to the Chief’s position.
He should have given it a try to translate leader’s benefits into party’s benefits with a strategic approach; because, it pays to retain a right substitute. As Mr Nagam said, this is unfortunate and not an inviting change in a party like TDP. “People-Party-Power” - consider this sequence as a cycle or fundamental. As long as parties do not realize that they just act as bridges to bring people to power, such unfortunate incidents keep repeating especially at times of rapidly changing political equations.
